Hi Doug and Mitch, once again I had a great time watching and listeing to you guys perform. You are both awesome players and give some great tips.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the great work you both do. God bless and will look forward to your next live session.
Awesome playing, both you and Mitch! Doug, you ought to do some "Blues" videos for purchase. Your rhythm for the blues contains some very interesting chord inversions that had that "country" flavor. That kind of stuff would be great for a future video. You are a terrific blues player as well as a country player. Thanks for your efforts to help other musicians.
ReplyDeleteGuys, it came thru great. If we're going to play along, how about a heads-up before the broadcast as to the key and chord progression of the jams. Will you make these sessions available as a download? My sniffer worked for the first jam, but not for this one. Ain't computers grand.
ReplyDeleteHey Man
ReplyDeleteBoth of you guys kick ass.....I look forward every week just to try and keep up on some of it.
Great stuff - thank you
-Newt
great job keep it up learning a lot thanks
ReplyDeleteWow! Congratulations again for you both! Doug, you did some really cool stuff in the slow blues tune, and really kicked ass in the last one. Always great to see you jammin'.
ReplyDeleteKeep it coming! Really great concepts and playing
Awesome stuff!! Keep it coming. Got a lot out of your approach and passages in Stormy Monday blues. A lot of stuff I can use.
ReplyDeleteThanks again!
Blowin minds here in the north of Ireland, changed my whole way of lookin at the guitar.
ReplyDeleteHey Doug and Mitch,
ReplyDeleteenjoying this very much.
Thank's and keep it up.
Steve
once again wonderful performance!!!!!! keep it coming!!!! you are both phenomenal pickers simply amazing!!!!! mitchey bears a striking resemblance to my brother in law who just happens to be my bass player!! enjoyed it very much!!!! take care guys......aguitarpicker@charter.net
ReplyDeleteDoug, from where I sit it's lacking for nothing;your tone is fine, and the bass tone is very pleasing...a punchy growl that I love! I don't have the best speakers on my computer, but it sounds fine from here.
ReplyDeleteLoved it!!! one major fault. To Short lets try 3 hours next time. I was just getting warmed up.
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff guys! Enjoyed it!
ReplyDeleteloved it guys, great fun and great picking, very informative. looking forward to next one. Bruce
ReplyDeleteBud from Vermont says great job guys. See Ya next week
ReplyDeleteBoth lookin' & soundin' real good over here in northern Scotland guys. A real inspiration for those of us so far away from the real deal. Please do keep it going, thanks so much,JMB
ReplyDeleteIt's so nice to see that we all experience the same things while on stage. I laughed so hard at some of the things because I've been there. I liked that you told what you think about just before a solo. I like that as well, but you tend to stray because of all the stuff that's going on around you. I like to get an idea and then build on it and then (I like the phrase) Sucker Punch them at the end. Great stuff. I can't wait till next week. You both are amazing and I feel as if I'm in the living room with you. Nice!
ReplyDeleteLove you guys,
Don Hays
Hey Doug and Mitch, It was great! Looking foreward to the next live video. Everything came through just fine.
ReplyDeleteJim in Michigan...
Dude!! Was it as good for you as it was for....oh never mind!! Now ya'll are getting caught up in saying that kinda stuff. Great playing as usual guys!!! Hey Doug,..sooo...Redd refers to you as "Dougie"?? LoL.. or something like that? I got to meet him at one of those gitar workshops here in Austin, & of course he plays the Continental club (Like Junior Brown used to) all the time...but, yeah, Redd is a great role model. He is just so damn good, but he's so down to earth, and so for real. I listened to his advice that one time I met him. It stuck to my mind like a fly on flypaper (you guys ever see those things?..We had them back in the 60's)
ReplyDeleteAnyways, yeah Doug, you guys are great, Brent Mason, Danny Gatton, Brad,..the Old school guys (Casper Rawls comes to town and plays with EVERYBODY)...anyways,..slow down Dougie, I'm still choking on your dust. Love the DVD's I got from ya, and I'm trying to learn this country thang. Trying to do like Redd says, just keep learning, mixing up jazz, blues, country, throwing in "doo-dad's, and curly Que's" every now & then, but, man, ...watching you Doug...makes me feel like a beginner! Keep sending this stuff ya'll! It WAS good for me...and again thanks so much guys for sharing this stuff. Us folks down in Austin, Texas appreciate ya'll!!!
Doug and Mitch I've waited all week for this and told some friends. That was one hell of a jam and I loved the bluss. Nw don't get me wrong I love all the speedy fancey licks but mostly as a backup person I'd like to see more emphasis on how to back up a singer and makke them look good. I hope I said that right Doug without offending you or Mitch. Love IT. will be lookinng forward to the next one.
ReplyDeleteHey Guys, nicely done!! Started out with my guitar in my hands, and the more you guys played, the less I did... until it came to the point where I just put it down and just tried to take it all in!! Although, over the years I've learned so much from you Doug... you still make me wanna burn my guitar! Ha Ha! You're the man Mitch!... See ya next week!
ReplyDeleteTake Care Guys!
TIFF
Any dude that'll sniff his own boot on live TV is alright by me. Thanks guys.

GPA said. sundays is a bad day but if you came on later I would be able to participate. Look forward to the replay.
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff as always. Well worth staying up after midnight here in Sweden. I can always sleep at work ;-)
ReplyDeleteBernt
Hi guys I had to see you even it was a bit late Danish time - you are a very cool couple and giving so musch by doing what you are doing, please keep coming!
ReplyDeleteOnly your picture freeze in the second track and I was lost from there - hope you will put it on web, can't wait to see it! All the best from Svend - Denmark.
Well it would have been great if the shows time was posted somewhere .. so I missed it !
ReplyDeleteDoug, it is really refreshing to listen to such a great player bear his soul and describe how you prepare for your musical journeys. As I watch I feel like I am in your studio one on one discussing each topic. Keep up the great work and I will continue to enjoy you and your music.
ReplyDeleteDoug... I really appreciate what you are doing. It is awesome. I caught the first show but missed the second one. I was blown away by the first show -- But I didn't have enough time to plan my schedule around the second one since the actual time it was announced so late and so abruptly. I would have had to be just sitting there in front of my computer waiting for an email and a go button. I did try the replay you sent out -- Thank you! But when I opened it up there was nothing on the page except a header and a frame. No Video. Thought you'd want to know. Sounds like a Technical glitch.
ReplyDeleteBut Great effort and intent. Thanks you again. This is cutting edge -- No one is doing this in the market place. I know...I am a Marketing specialist. Great Job! I'll catch the next one I'm sure.
Great job once again! I emailed Kelton Swade and he called me back within 2 hours. What a great guy he is! Thank you for sharing him!

Hey Doug,
ReplyDeleteI watched a few youtube vids just before x-mas and was truly inspired.
I have not been able to put my guitar down ever since. I come from a rock background and have never really seen or heard such modern licks played with a country feel.
I have learned many techniques from you and am well on my way.
4-6 hours a day for the past 3 months.
Thanks BIG TIME and love your webinar jams.
I do the exact same thing with a couple of my buddies so it feels like home watching you and Mitch.
Keep on Pickin'
Doug, you have THE definitive tele tone my friend. There is especially one very cool thing you do where you grab passing notes outside of the tonal shape of the chord. It gives it a real jazzy feel and I just love that aspect of your soloing approach. It's always a treat to hear you play warmed up or not, ready or not, tuned or not, you are just that good. Thanks for sharing all of these moments with us. You are a true sport about letting it all hang out there for people to see as it happens. Only a true pro can do that with no reservations. God bless you andMirch both my friend!
ReplyDeleteoh almost forgot, can you tell me the attraction for owning a dilapidated and beat up looking tele. Don't most guys want their guitars to look shiny and in new condition? So what is the attraction?
ReplyDeleteHi Doug and Mitch, just watched the replay, thank you verry much. you guys are the Dogs bllox..cheers look forward to the next one keep them coming guys..
ReplyDeleteThanks guys another great jam!
ReplyDeleteHey Doug and Mitch! You guys are smoking hot players. Made me get my guitar out after quiting 20 years ago. Talk about inspirational, WOW!!!!! Wish you'd come to Nashville as you would blow them all away including Brent.
ReplyDeleteJohn Bloise
Hey guys that was brilliant. You just kicked my playing up to a whole new level - something I've been trying to achieve for years. Thank you so much!
ReplyDeleteenjoyed it very much. Have turned a lot of players on to your videos. Thanks to you I am growing in leaps and bounds. Got me out of the same old box. Thanks.GJ
ReplyDeleteHi Doug, Enjoyed the jam. Thanks for the pointers, tips and info, keep up the good work.

Nice chops boys, love the chimes on the bass Mitch. I love the way you chain your progressions from one rythemic block to another Doug. Wonderful job you guys are doing.
ReplyDeleteThanks
Hey, great job guys. Just watched the replay, thanks for making it available for those of us who can't make it for the live show. Sometimes great things spontaneously happen when we switch instruments after playing a while. Just a thought, but I saw Mitches' U-tube page a while ago and really liked his melodic tele pickin' style. Thanks again.
ReplyDeleteThanks Doug and Mitchie for taking the time
ReplyDeletefor a great jamming session. Also for doing replay of webinar. Really enjoyed it. Excellent job. Thanks..
gbus
Hey Doug, Mitch. Really enjoyed the replay. thankful you made it available. About the guy that put down your tele, probably likes candy colored guitarsies. Easy on the gay bar jokes, even santa has to say lady of the evening, lady of the evening, lady of the evening, instead of Ho, Ho, Ho,. besides, I love the way Mitch's face lights up when you really start cookin man. Thank you very much for all your efforts. Really hot jams Look forward to seeing all ye all next week. GPA.
ReplyDeleteThanks Doug and Mitch. Doug - when you play rhythm, you often lay down some very interesting chord substitutions that I'd like to know more about. Do you cover this in one of your DVDs???
ReplyDeletehey Doug you guys sound awesome, ive learned some great stuff from you witch i appreciate. I love the idea about webcam so you can see others jam and give some advice.

ReplyDeleteHOT DAMN!! MAN! I love this stuff. Please continue. I love the blues. Country is white boy blues anyway. Awesome job guys.
ReplyDeleteIts like making love, Doug! Nice to listen to, too. Thanks for posting your articulate discussions and awesome playing. I really enjoy being part of your jams.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the video. Love your "sizzlin' licks DVD's too, very helpful. Good to hear you mention the spiritual side of working your craft. It's often overlooked while working the technical side of things. Looking forward to seeing more.
ReplyDeleteAwesome!! Keep it up guys! A truck load of info! I love it. I had to work nightshift when the webcast originally aired and I must thank you for posting the download. I would have missed it otherwise.
ReplyDeleteYou guys are realy coming into your own style. You compliment each other.I'd like to see some of those 9th's,inverted stuff and triads your playing Doug.If i had the talent of Mitch and yourself and was involved in those jams i would have lifted right off the ground.
ReplyDeleteHey,this is like Grateful D.
ReplyDeletethis is free - the musics freeeee and its also free!
Stein
I'm watching the replay again and I can't thank you enough, it's really mind blowing. I go from being awestruck to laughing my ass off. You and Mitch rule!!!
ReplyDeleteWonderful job!! Keep it comming!!! Is it possible to see the first one again?
ReplyDeleteDarryl said loved it
ReplyDeleteHey guys, no show this week so I watched the rerun! Better than Bonanza. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI don’t know if you are aware of it but you have a very rare talent:
ReplyDelete95% of guitar learning DVDs and online courses have flaws: The teacher plays or talks to fast, the graphics are messy, the teacher uses terminology you don’t understand – or does not seem very enthusiastic about the whole teaching situation in front of a camera.
As a journalist I have seen MANY courses – both on DVD and online – concerning everything from building websites to learning guitar. These courses often come from sites like Lynda.com, Total Training and other pro sites which host hundreds of courses – and an equal amount of teachers.
In all the other courses I have reviewed I have yet to come across another teacher who is as committed, dedicated, understandable and aware of the pupils needs as you are. You simply have unique educational and pedagogic skills which teachers in any subject could learn a lot from.
Sometimes you refer to your in depth comments as “rambling on”, but it is precisely these thoughts and reflections which makes your webinars so interesting: Where other teachers seem brief, shallow and uncomfortable you have the ability to set yourself into the students positions – and talk about stuff that really is relevant and important, in a laidback manner which also makes the class entertaining.
So: Ramble on, Doug!!
Many greetings from
Stein Egeberg
Hello Everyone - this is Kelton Swade the relic guitar builder. I wanted to take a moment and say thank you for the kind folks who have visited my web site at keltonswade.com - I also wanted to say that I am currently reviewing a variety of ideas as to how to express my gratitude towards my good friend Doug Seven and his friends who have visited and asked questions about my guitars. If I can assist in any way in putting one of my relic guitars in your hands, let me know...I am very accessible and can be contacted at 615-364-6670 or go to my web site and fill out the contact info and send me an e-mail. Have a blessed Easter and I hope to hear from ya'll! Bye now.
ReplyDeleteGreat Stuff! Questions for you guys to ponder. As a band manager I see things my guys need to work on with stage performance and want your imput;
ReplyDelete1st set 1st thing outta the bag, what kind of song or activity should the band intro with to get a crowd to pay attention? How should each set be approached to keep the crowd energized?
What arraingements of song types per set, upbeat, slow dance, jammin, etc? Should we use different set lists for different types of venues? Interaction with crowd by band members? sound levels? etc.
We have great music, great musicians, but every show has its regrets as well as great moments. We want them to be awesome all the way through!
Thanks and keep em coming.
